The Northern Amarbayasgalant monastery of Mongolia is an extraordinary region of ecological and cultural diversity and interest. Stay with a local family, learn about their way of life, explore the monastery which is the second largest one of Mongolia, enjoy sunsets on the river banks and do some horseback riding.

Tour Itinerary

Day1. Leaving Ulaanbaatar for Amarbayasgalant monastery

After you picked up from your hostel or hotel in Ulaanbaatar, we will drive to Amarbayasgalant monastery, which is the second largest monastery in Mongolia, is located in the beautiful Iven Gol river valley on the foot of Burenkhaan Mountain in Baruunburen town of Selenge province. This is one of the few monasteries in Mongolia, which survived mostly intact the purges of the 1930s. The beauty, decorations and construction of the monastery have made it one of the most magnificent architectural monuments in Mongolia. 1990 was the time when the circumstances came for Amarbayasgalant to be restored. Communism had fallen and the people were eager to revive their religious tradition. Amarbayasgalant was reestablished now and nowadays stands strong on its remarkable construction, as on its 300 years of history.
We will stay overnight with a Mongolian traditional accommodation ger for tonight. (Lunch and Dinner)

Day2.Visiting Amarbayasgalant Monastery

After having breakfast, we will visit Amarbayasgalant Monastery for enjoying the chanting ceremony there. After visiting the monastery and having lunch, we will do a half day of horseback riding around the area. Hiking around would be the best choice to do here. We will stay with Mongolian family ger for tonight. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

Day3.Driving back to Ulaanbaatar

After setting up at the family we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar. When we arrive to Ulaanbaatar, we will be transferred to a hostel or hotel for tonight. We will have some time to do souvenir shopping before we go to an attractive Mongolian National Folklore performance which depends on our arrival to the Ulaanbaatar. We will possibly have dinner together with our guides and drivers, after the dinner, you will be transferred to your accommodation. (Breakfast and Lunch)
